So I'm planning on hitting Alamitos Jetty during the winter. I'll be throwing creature baits and big hammers, and like everyone else I REALLY hate to snag up and lose my precious lures. To avoid that I'm opting for weedless jig heads to give my lures bulk and protection against brutal structure.

What brand and size jigs/ jig heads do you guys recommend? I'm looking to get the most bang for my buck!

Currently, I'm thinking about getting some 1/4-1/2oz bass patrol football jigs both the rubber and silicone ones. Would the football head affect the swimming action of the BH? Or would it be fine? Thanks guys.

Go cheap bro ... you will lose jig heads !

1/4 lb spool of 10# ande line ... $10/12 bucks

5 - pack of lead masters darter heads 1/4 to 3/8 ... $3/4 bucks

And some 3in BH - good luck .

It really depends on what you are targeting ? Halibut, Macs, sand bass, or calicos.
If you reel in with your rod tip up usually there is no problem. Never lost a $20 LC off a jetty but have lost a few off the beaches in LB. At Junipero/Cherry there is some structure near the bathroom that cost me $ and 2 Krocs there. 15lb braid saves money
too over 6 lb to 15 lb mono. The mono will snap and the braid will fray often times before it breaks.

Lol the pacifier is funny! Well bass and rockfish are my preferred species, but if the action on those are slow then even the underrepresented YFCs and Lizards are okay with me. I do intend on using T-rigs for Jetties, but I just wanted to grab some jigs to add some bulk to my lures.

There are warbaits jig heads, which have a guard. Those work good.

Yeah warbaits are great but not so great on the wallet. I might get a pack though.

I used spoons with a circle hook instead of the trebble hook
diferent sizes, the circle hook is rock friendly

Never even thought of a circle hook in the rocks. That makes sense Eddie.

I bet if someone invented a treble circle hook for hardbaits then guys would loose less hardbaits.
Tossing LC's in a rocky area get's expensive.

Maybe using needle nose pliers to bend the hooks on a treble inward a little about
10 - 15 degrees then the LC would be able to bounce off the sharper rocks better ?

Any thoughts ?
