I have been on a mission to catch a legal halibut the entire season. Today this mission was accomplished!!!
Started to fish around 7am. I could not have asked for better conditions:
The tide was coming in.
Surf was small. Very calm ocean.
Minimal salad.
Been throwing it for about 1/2 hour and than BAM! I was a little surprised that it was pretty close to the shore. Here is a pic:

It got quiet for the next 45 minutes or so. I changed my setup and started throwing frozen squid on carolina rig. I got a few shovel noses (all were released).
Was about to call it a day. Walked back to the area where I started and decided to throw for another 20 or so minutes. Within 5 minutes caught another hali (about an inch shorter than my first).
Took a quick pic and went home.

Want to say thanks to this forum for inspiring me.
