Yes, sit on top kayaks are allowed, as mentioned earlier.
YOU MUST WEAR WADERS, THOUGH!!!!
Same rule applies for tubers.
Irvine Lake is a "non-contact" lake, ie no swimming, wading, etc. It has something to do with the fact that the lake provides water to a few cities down stream, from what I've heard.

See ya at the opener and thanks so much to Irvine for this!!!! AWESOME!!!!

=================

Also with all the floatubers and kayaks that will be around the lake this Trout Season, we want to make sure that all motor boats/fishermen know that there is a max speed limit of 5mph when fishing at Irvine Lake.

Tell the bass boats/personal boats w/ > 10hp motors about the 5 mph speed limit as the rest of us are in your slow boats/pontoons going 5 mph max, our own tubes/kayaks - maybe 2-4 mph on a good day with wind at our backs or on shore going 0 mph kicking back or eating BBQ as noted on other links here at the Vine (:-)

I believe that was the intent behind his comment that with the potential for more slower moving crafts that the motor driven boats which would include bass boats etc.. need to be vigilant about the 5mph speed for safety, that's how I read it anyhow.

I don't know whats the difference, it has air in it, you wear waders, you use flippers, you float in it, I don't think they have thought this threw just my :My Two Cents: same thing different shape? Dosen't make sense to me. Common Sense isn't all that common. You may have to Join The Navy my friend.

To Irvine Staff,
Is it possible to remind the boater, private and rental, of the 5mph speed limit and the distance to stay off the shoreline where there's shore anglers at the launch ramp/rental dock? It just seems to be the place to inform them off these important rules. Then no one can say they didn't know. Just a request.
