Launched my kayak from the Coast Guard station around 9:45 this morning and threw files in the immediate area (with my 8-weight Echo) until about 1:20. Beautiful launching conditions, glassy water, no other boats or fisherman in site. It was one of those days you just gotta love on the water, and plenty of fish came to play with me. If you came by you were just as likely to see a bend in my rod as not.
Fish count
• 1 barracuda
• 9 calicos
• 1 sandbass
• 10-12 lizardfish, some of which were sizable and fought almost as good as the bass
Flies used included a brown/white clouser, a flashy olive-white clouser (that I tie up in lizardfish colors), and a long green/white needlefish fly. They all caught fish, didn’t seem to really matter, you know how it is when they are biting. Good times.
