I didn't realize it was gonna be such a big deal to replace it.

Well, being that I have plans to go to SAL this weekend, I wanted to make sure everything is in place.

The plug had a short and when I took it apart 4 wires were sticking out in no special order. When I cleaned it up and put the plug back together and plugged it in, I hear crackling and smoke everywhere. Haha OK that not right!!!!

Found exact plug and had no idea how 4 wires come out of troll motor (2 pos. And 2 neg.) and only 3 spots for the plug
(12) (24) and (-)

I put one red in (24) and one black in (-).
Leaving one red and one black homeless.

Trolling motor works now!

Does this sound right? Or can this cause a short? Uncertain?

Thanks in advance!

I have no idea what your describing but make dang sure there is an inline fuse between the wiring you did and the battery please?

Sounds like a cluster F

Do the speeds change now?

As you know now, always take note of wire placement before removing.
