I was wondering if your under a certain age when float tubing do you have to wear a PFD at all times and if so what age and also what do you guys use to string up your fish I was thinking a metal stringer but I read somewhere that you can rip holes in the side of your float tube because of the stringer. I'm fishing for trout just in case that makes a difference.

Wearing a PFD is just common sense.....especially if it is cold water and you are wearing waders.

Wear it.... you never know what can happen ( especially @ lake's with sea-doo's) and no one will care if u look a lil silly. They sell really nice ones that are slim but they run about 80 bucks. better safe then sorry as my mother always said..

I've always used a mesh bag that attaches to the D rings on the side of the tube. Stringers can be a hassle at times and these bags work great. I've been using one ever since I started tubing 17 years ago. Check them out.

I use one of the baskets that floats (has a plastic lid) or you can get a 12" inner tube put around the top of the basket to help it float basket at sport chalet is like 15 bucks I think
