Dennis and I are back. We been having a dismal to good lobster outings. Nothing consistent, just a lot of pulling to get half limits to near limits, or limits if we worked hard. The last year lobster spots are not producing as well as we planned, so we been doing some lobster exploration up and down the coast. We plotted new points on some high resolution topo maps and we finally hit the jackpot on this outing. What made this trip even better was we found the gaint bugs again! Land of the gaints is not lost. We were pretty much done by the 6 or 7th net on our first set of 10 nets. Dumped a bunch back so I can go look at this super fishy spot and found the big'uns. I was elated when the big ones were coming on board. I wanted to scream! It is so rewarding when you find your own spots. We know there are bigger and better spots out there, so we will be out looking again. The thrill of the hunt, not the kill. Enjoy the pictures.

I had to wait for Dennis so I went out and got me a quick limit of rockfish. Big vermillions, chuckleheads, and bocaccios.

Dennis the Menace with the average size lobster. Not one short out there.

We found them big'uns again. Not in big numbers, but they were there. They were all released. Not because we are tree huggers. If history repeats itself like last season, they will attract their counterparts for their orgy party near the end of the season. Dennis and I will be there to break up the party and pluck our fair share of them.

Another one. There was not a lobster in every net. I believe it was 1 out 2, or 1 out 3 nets we got a big one. We did 1 1/4 set to ensure they were there. We did not want to disrupt or burn the spot until we were ready to harvest them.

Quality size lobster limits we took home.

This might be dead giveaway to our general location. A lot more red crabs than yellows. I wanted to include pictures me holding up some the lobster, but Dennis is being anal about the background and wants all the glory. What a f'er.

Steaming in the pot as I write this.

Thats it. All bugg'd out. See you all next time.

Close to 4 hours of pulling. All Dennis. He was struggling at the end. So I told him to pull harder or I will find another deckhand. He pulled and pulled. :O

Great job on finding yourself a new honeyhole!!! Man My buddy and I went out on a lobster twilight trip on the cobra out of channel islands sportfishing and the whole boat skunked it, barely any crabs either but skipper did get us all limits of rockfish before the sun went down. Catching limits is still only a dream, but one day it will be a great day like you and your buddy had. Great job keep up the reports!!!

WTG on the bugs...definately not your first rodeo. Wish I had the back to try the deep spots.
