Hey Bassman,

Google up "DIY kayak rod holder" and you will find all kinds of good stuff.

The make and model of your tube greatly affects how you can lash the holder onto the tube.

One lesson I learned, bigger is not alway better, when dealing with PVC. That stuff gets real heavy, especially the joints.

Get the white river rod holders. They're $20 each and work great. The only place I've seen them is at BPS.

I can't make jack so I just went out to wallmart and got the cheap $11.00 3 pole holder and a strapped it to my tube with a strap and a bungee to keep it in place.

Then I got the scotty single holder so you can troll while you fish with one rod for $30 on sale at cabalas. It also helps when you land the fish to have a place to put the pole.

Here is a pic of the cheap 3 pole holder.

I just made a mount for a Scotty base last night.

I used sheet metal shears, a drill and a Dremel tool.

It's got a fly rod holder in it in the picture, I've got regular holders for it also.

The yellow parts were made from a plastic bucket. Both ends of each strap pass through all four slots. The idea is to snug it up on the tube just before it's fully inflated then fully inflate it.

Caddis makes a rod holder that can be removed from the base. It is held to your tube by a strap that goes around one of the bladders. Not strong enough to troll while in gear but work great otherwise. I think they go for 19.99 each. Just google.

fishinone my holder came with a mount and straps made just for float tubes so all I had to do is pull it out the box and strap it on. Not sure if you've had yours for a few years or if it was just a different model, but for someone like me not handy making things it was perfect.
