Got on the water for sunrise at 6:45 by the jetty - didn't pick-up any bass there, the shoreline got crowded early and I was distracted by so much commotion. Headed over to Windy Point. Lots of people fishing for trout for Troutfest - tons of boats and shoreline packed. No one was looking for bass, so I had a relatively open shot. Picked up 8 or so smallies and about a dozen crappie. Had batteries for the camera today, so a few pix below. My first bass was caught on a fly and put up a nice little fight. All the others were on a senko worm. Since the 5mph buoys had been pushed out a bit, every so often I headed out looking for trout on the fly. Not even a tap. Didn't see too many people catching - a few stockers every now and then. The wind didn't pick up until almost 11am so it was a little warm, but overall it was a nice morning.

Way to go on those smallies. You have Grout Bay and Windy point pretty figured out. I have to get my tube up there. I have fished that area for trout but would like to try the bass before it gets too cold. Thanks for the pics and report.

You worried about the patrols or getting run over past the 5 mph bouy. I stray way past them occasionally and have never been bugged by the patrols.
