Took Dave out for a halfer on Friday morning, had a very good day.

Day started out meeting at Gallions, been a while since I've been in there early so I got to say hi to a few of my Ole friends in the morning....

Got up top around 7:00 and there was still a good line, someone slept in...

Been awhile since I'd been out with Dave, last trip we did was up at Pyramid, not sure if Dave had been to Castaic, sorry I'm sure you told me but kind of tired after getting up so early today for the CAST at the Lagoon, I'll make a post of what a great time that was latter, back to Dave's trip...

Well the key for me at least has been the shad, chasing striper's is a little slow right now so I've been sticking with the Bass and to get onto a big volume of them you need shad !

I told Dave what the plan was, I got the feeling that he trusted my judgment and was ready for whatever... He was stoke about being out on the water and with attitudes like that it get the good mojo flowing and it couldn't have worked out any better.
Got both nets out and instructed Dave on what to do, went in and Brailled the bait on the first spot, done had all the bait we needed... (Pic's are file photos)

So with are load of bait, went out to my first main lake spot and spooked the shoreline and got some bait flushed out and had some boils and bait getting chased, bass on the inside and striper's on the outside, little out of casting distance and no huge boils just single fish pops.
The action got started right away, used standard gear, spinning rods, 6 #test and mosquito hooks, starting picking off some nice grade of bass, 2 to 3.5 pounders and a couple that hammered the baits and busted off.

The morning overcast was wearing off and it was starting to get warm with all the action...http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/c53751df.jpghttp://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/a43c6419.jpg
Boat traffic was starting to take it's toll on me, fighting the wake gets old fast, besides the bite slowed to a bite every other cast so we decided to move down into the ski arm since it hadn't been fished for the last 3 days cause of the closure for filming.http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/1af92737.jpg

The move gave Dave a chance to see a little of the lake, moved back into another cove and looked for signs, not much happing, few fish and not much bait...http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/8cc9c9fd.jpg we moved over to the next and it was a hole different story, bait, and fish and a Kitty...

Bait was the ticket in the next cove, fish popping and another good pick of fish...http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/f9806ffc.jpg got our selfs a double going http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/52f571bf.jpg
This is one of the average placements of the hooks when fishing shad...http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/a8f22bb4.jpg
another move and the bite really went WFO, almost ever bait was bit...http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/ac006de3.jpghttp://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/34f175be.jpg then came Kitty number 2, those guys really fight, right Dave...lol

With the last catfish we called it a day, well almost, went over to Sharron's rest and hung out waiting for the striper's to pop up, Big Striper Dave was there, talked to him for a bit, had a blow up on a Sammy Dave was tossing but missed the bait, called it a day, Good half day of bass fishing, caught and released over 35 fish or more, http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/23120f79.jpgDave kept the catfish to take home to share with his housemates... Good times, Thanks Again for Using My Guide Services... Dave

Again Dave showed me a good time. Got up about 5:15am to leave pasadena. Got there at around 6:10 and had some coffee. As soon as i met up with dave we were in the truck 4 minutes later heading to the top lake. Like dave said It really only took one dip net to get all the bait we needed. Started fishing at one spot and the 1st bass popped the line on set-up. There after it was one after another. Went and fished a couple other spots. Made one more little shad trip cause the waves from the boaters were affecting some of the bait in the live-well. One more scoop was all we needed. Coming from south florida I have had my triple digits numbers in one day. But honestly this was a whole different experience fishing on the boat with life bait and not getting hit by anything under a pound. Sometimes I just cant resist when dave calls with an inexpensive trip on short time notice. (thanks dave). Recommend that if anyone wants to catch fish go out one time with dave and you will keep coming back. The reason I stick with dave is because just after two trips with dave I feel like were real fishig buddies. Of course I can go on any guide but its the relationship you have to where he trust you to drive his truck, use the trolling motor, or know your not gonna hook him when you cast lol. cant wait for the next trip and the winter season to get the big ones
