MMIII's
7" oxblood light w/red flake- noon to late
6" Folkstad special-same color as mm's, but no brown bottom
morning dawn
Any worms in cinnamon color-Best in bright light conditions.
Try D/S a wacky rigged senko in green pumpkin w/black flakes.

Not sure where you live but Last Chance bait and tackle in Hemet seems to always be well stocked. And has better prices than BPS...

Morning Dawn has always produced for me on the drop shot. The above mentioned colors have also worked for me, but seem to have produced better bouncing at the end of a Texas Rig or while being dragged behind split shots or a C-Rig...

Very simple....morning and/or cloud cover=Morning dawn. NO QUESTION
Afternoon/clear skies and hot=Oxblood

Consistently 30+ fish drop shot ANYWHERE on the lake with that combo.

Remember, color makes a difference when fishing 20 ft and shallower.... For those deeper big girls, it really doesnt matter what color. Its too dark to make a difference. Its more about profile and action.

DVL Destroyer

For some strange reason, "Perris Punisher" also seems to do damage there.

Also try Aaron's Pro Shad.

Hmm. I guess the packs sitting in my room are a figment of my imagination.

;-)

Roboworm will pour special patterns if you ask them to.

That's how you get "Bait Ball," Monster Shad," "Bitchin' Craw," "Arizona Dragonfly", and other countless special pours that are not available at Walmart.

There is more than one Morning dawn.

There is "aaron's morning dawn", "Morning Dawn", "Morning dawn with red flake", and a "morning dawn with a chartreuse tail" (I wish they would make a curly-tail morning Dawn with a chart tail)

Word is they handpoured him a flesh-toned color, but they couldn't stand up the stretching.

totally loaded question. to narrow down your choices is to force a fish to change is views of a perfect meal. as we all know, fish have a way at saying "F" you at times. im asked this question A LOT at the tackle store. it usually turns into an hour long "seminar" talking about tones, shades, colors at specific depths, cold colors and hot colors. to keep is simple, brown, black, green, purple and smoke would be the most significant colors on that lake.

to simplify your search for the best colors force yourself to identify the key forage in the lake at the given time you fish. after you identify your forage base at that given time, your color choices will be more obvious.

dont think of color choice as something so cut and dry. flip your mindset and think "if i were a fish and im eating crawdads, why the hell would i eat some stupid chartreuse worm floating around 12" above my head"

not sacred, but here's a basic run down... from here you'll see what colors show up more in the environment. be sure to keep in mind when grass is vibrant and when grass is dying. this plays a HUGE role!

sculpin- browns, greens, smokes, gold
crawdads- browns, greens, reds, smokes, blues, blacks, oranges
shad-smokes, blues, purples, pinks, chartreuse
gills and bass- browns, greens, blues, oranges, chartreuse

the most minute details make the biggest difference on the water.

good luck man.

Asking which "1" color works best is not something that can be answered......Its all up to the fish.

i use a 13" "snake" worm, black with 2 white stripes down the sides and smells like anise. carolina rigged with a 3/4-1oz and a 9/0 hook threaded 1/4 of the way down ;).
