i finally got a brake from my flooring buisness and decided it was time to go to castaic to see what was really up. i had talked to carpboy while i was on the road up north and he said he might be able to fish fri ,it ended up he did he had never fished with me before so we were in for some fun and alot of talking smack.
we hit the water and started to troll, that way we could pick at the stripers and find out were the shad and stripey schools were stacked up, because if you didnt know the wind has alot to do with the currents and were the bait has been pushed too. we saw little spots of bait and fish, then we ended up at the bouyline area. we found the bouyline was broken and landed up on the dam.
we went in the area for a closer look, next thing you know theres giant schools of bait , the giant schools of stripers circling them. next thing the shad start dimpling the surface, the surfact was flat as a pan cake. me and carpboy started getting ready. we had some blow ups but no hookups we were still and quiet drifting in the middle of the action that was getting ready to blow up.we both got hooked up but shook off so we were fired up.
then here comes the dwp in a boat telling us to move out of the area so they could fix the bouyline. man did that hurt, we moved out and started searching fo other schools. wepicked them up here and there while scouting alot of water.we never saw a good boil ,just little splish splashes here and there. about ten thirty we were back near the main launch ramp and the boil party started.
for the next two or three hours it was up and down with the boils anf fighting for spots against all the boil whores who moved in to the area after spotting us whacking mr stripey. during the boil wars cutbait found out about what to really look for and the sit down and hang on drill while we raced to the next boil popup.most of the other boil fishing peope were pretty good not to man knuckleheads in the mix.
thank you mike for all the good company and i hope learned a little from the old man , it was great fun i just wished we didnt farm so many fish, but thats fishing ,oh and mr stripey did get a little of youre blood during all the action,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,S/O,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
