For trout, I like a rod thats rated 2-6 lb test, this may limit the offering to 6'6" or 7'-0", but the lighter weight makes up for it with casting smaller trout lures (1/32 - 1/8 oz), it loads the rod better during the cast. Try to steer clear of the 4-8 or 10 lb rods, the 2-6 or 2-8 is better.

IMO here are a few good choices:

$20 range: Bass Pro Microlite glass (I have 2 of them, great for throwing jigs)

$45 range: Bass Pro Microlite Graphite

$70 range: StCroix Triumph

Was looking to spend around 50 or so. Also I wanted to know if there is that big of a difference in a 60 dollar rod vs 150 like a loomis or a phenix. From my experiences sometimes theres a imaginary line of price and after you pass that its all show and don't really improve on performance. Is there a price line for rods and reels?
