made the long drive with the g/f once again to go back and get a little more surf action. i've been itching since all the fun i had last week, so i needed to try and re-live it again, if not have even more fun!
arrived at about 3:30pm...tide was high, wind was blowing pretty hard head on, and the swells were quite large....isn't looking too good :Sad:
set up the the gf with the camo sandworm and i decided to give the LC another go, seeing as i lost my first one last week after three casts. she's cool with catching perch all day....but i want something a little bigger :Twisted: unfortunately, no halibut came on this day, however i landed about four TOAD bsp's on the LC...definitely got a PB perch today. the gf caught countless bsp's and walleye surf perch, so she had fun.
if any of you read my report from last week, you read about that giant "mystery" i hooked into....the one i fought for 45 minutes and busted me off. well, i needed revenge. once the sun went down i gave the fresh cut bait another go to see what was lurking out there in the twilight...and sure enough, i hooked into a replay from last week, felt like the same exact fish! only this time, i was armed with my teramar/cardiff combo, so i was more prepared (this thing almost spooled my 400A tonight, i was surprised). fought this thing for about 25 minutes down the beach and finally got it close enough to shine the light on it...and just as i suspected, a HUGE batray....wings flapping, and tail whipping around out of the water...this thing must have had at least a 4 ft. wingspan....it was quite large. i wasnt gonna send the gf down in the surf in the dark to fetch it with it's stinger waving around, so i tried my best to work it up the beach with the waves. almost got it and finally my 20 lb. big game line snaps....oh well, probably for the best anyways. at least i got to see it :LOL:
