Headed up to Big Bear with a buddy yesterday to do some fishing. Ended up near Grout Bay with no luck from 6-10am. Had some HUGE bites (Carp)? No real takers.

Around 11am, we decided to head to Jenks Lake since they stocked it last Friday.

Got to Jenks around 2pm, not too many people on the lake one float tuber (who was slayin' it at the end of the day, nice job dude...) and about a dozen others scattered across the shores.

As soon as we set-up the slay was on. We caught 8 fish in about two hours (All rainbows!). Let 3 others go to fight another day. All but a few were in the 10-12 class. Big fish for that lake so it surprised me. Maybe the last stocking was of some heftier fish. Got them all on PB, anyone try the new garlic rainbow? Damn, that stuff is gold there.

Left around 6 to a beautiful sunset down the 38.

No pictures, sorry!

They are owed one more stocking from the DFG. So hopefully it will be a good one. The lake closes October 15th.

I guess I need to get up there and tube it one last time before Oct 15. Beautiful little lake.

I tried going up to Jenks yesterday but they said the road was closed due to a hazardous waste spill. I was looking forward to pan fried trout for dinner.

Hwy. 38 is closed for the next day or so at angeles oaks as a tanker overtuned and lost alot of fuel onto the roadway [ 9/20 ] . When the lk. closes just park at gate and walk to the lk. , used to do it all the time .

Like sneak in after the lake is closed? Sounds like a night fishing trip to me!!

No like fish it whenever you want but you just have to walk in, no Ninja required....

That's right ... did it myself many times. Still remember the walk back up ... whew! Do you need a wilderness pass? I think it used to be that way

Also saw some locals coming down to the lake very late in the day ... FWIW
