So I'm bored and cannot hit the salt anytime soon, and if you all would be so kind to answer my inquiry I'd be grateful. Have any of you guys ever caught or have heard of someone catching spotties outside a harbor or jetty? I'm just curious. Thank you all.

-IF2LI've seen someone catch an 11-inch spotty at newport pier..

I've never seen one caught directly from the open surf, though. I think they prefer a SLIGHTLY lower salinity than full marine salinity. I know for a fact that they DO tolerate brackish water, like most Harbor species.

From a pier? Wow that's pretty cool.

Spotties like brackish water eh? Interesting... Thanks Smokehound.
