Last year was my first trip to the Sierras. (Mammoth & Bishop) It was breathtaking. Even not accounting for the fishing, just taking in the beauty was worth the trip.

I was able to lean on the courtesy of a friend by simply riding with him and fishing wherever he fished. Did not pay much attention to which lakes we visited as I was not the driver.

I'm taking my two boys back up this October. Is there a website that gives an intro/layout of the different lakes in that area, and what each lake may hold in terms of fish? For example, if we would like to catch a german grown, are there particular lakes? And if shore fishing, which lakes are better? Or even in particular lakes, what are some of the better spots ?

This would be my boys first trip and they are very much looking forward to the trip.

Thanks in advance for any help.

http://www.fishersnet.com/ is a decent site that highlights a few lakes up there. You can also check the dfg website and you can get exact gps directions of where they stock fish. For the most part they stock in places that are easily accessible to the general public. I think you get more knowledge from people on this site than you will from a web page. When and where do you plan on going?

For instance I'm going at the end of this month and staying one night in Mammoth and 2 in Bishop. The first day I plan on fishing somewhere in Mammoth. Mary, Maime, Twin Lakes and George offer good shoreline access with rainbows, browns and brooks. While in Bishop I plan on hitting every lake in the Bishop Creek Basin. Possibilities are endless up there but remember the weather changes up there very fast in October.
