I hit a section of BC today from 10 to about 12:30 with the 8-weight fly rod. Had a good outing with maybe 12-15 fish brought to hand, although most of them were caught in one spot over a 30-minute stretch. These were mostly good-sized perchies - but there was a decent halibut, and one YFC in the mix.

There is a nice trough in this area where the steep beach angles out to greet the ocean, which emptied out when the tide got below 3 feet. Good beach fishing while it lasted.

Good job.
I gotta break out the fly rod. Been tempted to all summer long.

Those perch looked to have some good size. What fly patterns were you using? Thanks for the pics.

The halibut took a small orange "perch fly" that day - and all the perch took clousers, the halibut-catching fly! Go figure.... (although the clousers were in different colors including a brown/orange pattern that they seemed to like)
