Anything that COULD have gone wrong yesterday- DID! [pants ripped (don't laugh), air conditioner broke at home, student prank- not funny!- (okay it was-Keep a straight face)- broke auto light bulb in my hand and got cut, Oh, there’s more!] URGHH!

Feeling a little upset and overwhelmed, I decided to hit the beach after work. At 4pm it was 92* at PCH and Warner! still cooler than in my house.

As I watched the beautiful moon rise and gently cast its glow on the ocean-
I reminded myself- It’s all good! No worries. Tomorrow is a new day.

It was the perfect ending to a really bad day... and it's the perfect ending to a good day. I love the beach and the mountains!

I'll be there on Saturday morning. Hope to see you out there :) just look for the girl catchin' all the fish!

It's all good. Attitude is key!

Really, I have a great life.

Way to pull the nose up on a bad day! Hitting the water tends to change my mood fish or no fish it is just nice to get a break from the day to day problems. Nice job utilizing your new skills.

sounds like you managed to turn that frown, upside down  The sound of waves crashing, a beautiful sunset and some good ol' fishing is what it's all about. :Thumbs Up:

You dig a little hole over a bed, place the net in so the mouth of it is facing the shoreline, then you wait for a wave to come in, and as the wave goes back out, you twist your feet, causing all the sandcrabs to dislodge and they all get caught in the net. I first heard of this from Vanilla Gurilla. Saw another person using one, and he got tons of sandcrabs in one shot.

Evosamurai- is it worth the $65? have you used it before? Thanks for the info though. I've been wanting to go into that tackle shop- but haven't yet. I can "make it" in my way : ) Thanks for the help and the map. : )

oh wow that's expensive. I'd rather use the colander.. But then again the net would take up less space..

its wayyyy worth the $65 bucks, if its the wide one like 2ft wide you can sometimes get all the bait u need in one shot for alllll day lol.

Good morning Karyn,

It's 5:20 AM and I heading for the trenches but wanted to respond first.
I purchased mine at "Baha Tackle" in Lomita, on Narbonne for $40.00.
I needed to tighten and silver solder the nuts to stop them from continuously loosening up. It helped a lot! Try to find the more transparent / soft shells and store them in a tiny water bottle with a cord tied to the neck of the bottle. Make the cord long enough to wear around you neck. You then just shake out one ready to use bait at a time. Instead of "shake and bake" it's "Shake and BLAMM"! :Big Grin:

SP Dan- Very cool. I think Lomita is near LB kinda? I will look it up. Do you think it's worth the $$? Going out this morning :) hopefully I will catch a big phat hali! :)

Silverweld-is that like locktight? or is that like saudering? I don't know what it is?

have a great day. Thanks for your help.

The problem with those catchers is they are too big and a major hassle to haul around.
I have one that came with the house, used it once. Back in the day ( 60's 70's) people used them to find change
and jewelery if they couldn't afford a metal detector.

Plastic Spagetti strainer is the WTG, clip it on my creel, weighs a couple ounces.
3 scoops of sandy crabs, dip in the water on the next wave and the sand goes away,
then you have 20 - 50 crabs to pick through. You could get a light plastic trowel for your nails.

I'll look in the garage for it. PM me if you want the metal one Karyn (free).

DR- that is mighty nice of you. I like your idea of the plastic trowel too- and I have a collapsible strainer, so it would not be bulky in my back pack-I carry way toooo much stuff. My nails are real-nothing fake- and not long, but when the sand gets under them it tends to separate my skin from my nail and then it hurts. I use board cleaner or windex for the white boards and then my finger stings-like a paper cut.

I am not a sissy lala with sand- only avoidable pain and needles.

I'll pm ya. Thanks for the offer. mighty kind of ya DR!

Hey Karyn,
I saw an elderly gentleman use the face of a house fan for sand crabs.
The little ones went right on through the wires, while the big ones stayed.
He got 40-50 sand crabs in less then 10 minutes.
He than put them in a plastic coke bottle and put the fan thing away.
Good Luck,
Robert
