Took a little walk over to the lagoon last night to just explore what might be going on..

Wasn’t expecting a whole lot as it’s usually in a summer doldrums pattern..

Saw MILLIONS of tiny baitfish dimpling the surface…

Saw 5-6 decent bass surface : )

Hmnnn…good signs…

Certainly way more than I expected to see in this hot weather/subsequent hot water pattern….

Fished it ultra hard…looked a little promising..

No strikes….

More casts….

No strikes..

HMnnn…should I pack it in ?

NOPE ! gotta make lemonade outa’ tha’ lemons!

Found some slightly deeper regions….not extremely choked either..

I was fishing a senko but to reach the deeper realms it was taking the senko too long to sink…

Tried dropshotting…

With many more casts..I still was optimistic !

Then….I get a real strong pressure bite that flat out began swimming….

I drove on it !

The largemouth Bass was quickly re-introduced to me as my steel sunk in and some drag did some peeling : )

Saweet !

Feels like a solid Unit !

Did a few acrobatics !

Man this fish is al juiced up !

Again..I didn’t expect that kind of zeal given the water conditions !

I lip it and snap a quick pic..

and back to the zone fly’s my 7.5” culprit “scuppermong” plastic worm !

Nice yoked up unit….kinda like tha’ mini football shape that the larger DD have !

Saweet ! Skunk OFF !

More an more casts…..

Same region….
(there was a hydrilla patch down there as opposed to the grass -oxygen rich)

Another strong bite…paused ….then another strong bite !

I drive the steel home !

Another nice solid feesh…!

Nice : )

Hello Mr Largemouth…..been a while since we talked !

Quick photo op and it’s back to the hydrilla to tell ur cousins what happened !

and that concluded my after work lagoon foray…

I fished extremely hard !

Got TWO bites

Landed TWO fish !

Grumpy suckas too ! they are clearly eating well there : )

Till next time…

Good luck out there on them thar’ waters !

Grats Gary! Way to beat the skunk with a vengeance!

Sounds like you found a swell spot for the weather, too.

WOW NICE BASS AND GREAT REPORT

What size hooks do you use for them.

Oh... and should I cast close to shore or far. Sorry for these questions. The reason I ask cuz it seems like I can only cast far when I use a 6 oz pyramid weight.

Do you think 6 oz weight is heavy enough?

Thanks in advance!
PLEASE any help will be appreciated!

Oh ....one more thing, what depth?

I know you know the lagoon very well.

Sorry, one more thing. Does the lagoon have stripers in it?

Thx again
Mike

Nice fish and report. Try using nail weights on the Senkos they help out and it dosent take away from the natural action of the bait. Just slide a single nail weight into the center of the tail. Works very well.

Well we all have to resort to kiddie pool fishin at some point.

Nice largies, too bad they are just a bit too big for bait..
