View Full Version : Shark attacks newbie in SM (8/21 am)-pics/video

Well... to start things off... a newbie wanted to join me surf fishin in SM this am, and I wanted him to get on some fish!

I get to WR around 7am and run into Mike/Andy there in the parking lot... great chatting with you two. I get setup and start fishing for a few minutes searching for a hole/trough holding some fish for the newbie...
conditions were pretty nice: overcast, no wind, small waves, minimal salad:

well, newbie (Boris) shows up and I rig his line with a 1/2 oz c-rig with size 6 baitholder on crack. We set off looking for a bite... finally found it near a jetty, and I give him some pointers, and he starts fishing the GCSW hard, and sure enough... he lands probably a dozen or so perch ranging from dink to maybe 7-8"... he was stoked:

and while he was fishin... I decide to surprise him with my little friend :LOL: watch him flinch :Embarrassed:

all fish/leo were safely C&R today... he had a great time... I caught fewer perch cause I was using size 4 baitholder... but was great to see him catch~~~ great am to be out for sure...

Thx guys for the comments! Wasn't too long ago when I met a fellow surf fisherman who got me on some fish and got me hooked!

Where abouts is this? Looks like it's a little south of Gladstones somewhere. Thanks for the videos...that one of the golf ball sized sand crab is crazy....you sure that's not the head of a spiny lobster??! :)

Yeah we fished Will Rogers state beach this particular outing..

And that huge crab was a mole crab! Can def hurt if it pinches your toe!!
