Hello!

Sorry for the lack of updates. Burn out of my brain is my only excuse. So that called for drastic measures. I took a vacation for the first time in years and went FISHING! I came back with a fresher brain and some salmon in the freezer.

Summer has flown!

I just realized yesterday what a cool variety of fish we are fortunate to have available along with the beauty of the Channel Islands with the scenery and wildlife. I had been so wrapped up in the day to day stuff that I was just seeing my tiny little area.

The big Halibut are still out there. The Mirage brought in several in the last week up to 55lbs! The Pacific Islander, Seabiscuit and Coral Sea have had their share also. The white seabass are still there but obviously not in the numbers that they have been. Limits of those nice outer Island rockfish, big sheephead, lots of whitefish, ling cod, and a couple of calicos here and there, still make for nice overnight trips.

The full day, ¾ day, ½ day and twilight boats have been reporting nice calicos, (limits on some days), barracuda, sand bass, rock fish, some nice halibut, ling cod, even some yellowtail and more!

The private boaters have been reporting some good catches and some have come in and utilized our new IGFA approved scale! ☺

I know there are lots of details missing but I’m not on site most of the time. I know live squid, fresh dead squid, live anchovies, sardines, plastics and irons have been used. I know great memories have been made. For me it’s about the time spent on the water with family and friends, be it on a boat, standing in the surf, hanging on a pier, side by side in a river, it’s all good!

And I say just go fish wherever, whenever and as often as you can!

Fishing feeds the soul!

Happy fishing, tight lines and all the rest of the cool sayings!
