Look......im hungry.I cant wait til Turkey Bowl 4 to eat good food again! What way to qualify better than to do it on a full stomach! I say we bar b que right of the tackle shop in the picnic area! I'll bring a small grill and a small fold up table and let you guys do the rest.I'll bring enough charcoals also.I'll also bring some grub. What yall say? Lets meet it up ! Never been to one of these and honestly haven't fished that much in fresh water and even less for cats. Is this event open to newbies looking to get some tips on catching cats?

If it helps I'm a certified KCBS BBQ judge and would be willing to smoke a butt or 2 for the help..

Bro it is open to any one and every one and I promiss you you will get more advice and tips thaen you can handle you will probably have to go fishing 5 or 6 times just to try out all the thing you will hear.

Here is the start off bring two of yor 7 or 8 foot mediume action rods with 12-20lb test and some 1/0 -2/0 circle hooks. Oh yea mackerle makes the best bait hit up a pier for some bait

Sounds good. I have a pole I can use and already have hooks, and will just get mackeral, but my large pool is rigged with braid. Is it ok to use that and just add a leader to it? It's 20lb braid so it should be strong enough.

Braid is OK and some even like it more than mono for cats while fishing near structure because of its abrasion resistance. Cats arent too line shy since they mostly feed at night (when its dark) They've evolved to rely mostly on their sense of smell and taste rather than sight to feed. I never use anything less than 20lb line when catfish fishing since I usually fish near structure.

no sadly its not an overnight event. when you come in just ask any of the staff where we are at. most likely bee right in front of the shop

I was thinking about throwing some yardbird on the grill around 1 or so and plan to be back on the water by 4pm....last qualifier as far as I know so want to put in maximum time on the fishing grounds.

Can anyone provide the start and end times of the event. I don't think I'll be able to do a pork butt as I normally smoke my butt for at least 10 hours. I thought this was a midnight to 5:00pm event so I thought I would have time between the fish I'm going to catch, but I don't think I will be able to now.
