I use a fish seeker diver by davis. you can get em at bass pro or cabelas.
It maxes out at 80ft. Which is fine. but what if I want to go deeper? or what will happen if I use a shallow crank bait on the end of it.
It says not to use deep diving lures. but what would happen if I did?
thanks.

Before I got a DR I always used LJ Jet Divers in misc. sizes 10-50ft, and would run diving lures up to 5' behind it. If your diver is going to 80 foot, and you use a 2-5 foot leader, you're not going to drag the whole rig that much deeper. I doubt it would have much effect on the action of the lure, either.
I always read to use floating or shallow running cranks behind leadcore or divers, but countdowns or deep divers don't seem to be that much different other than it running a couple feet deeper.
