Well my dad and I got there around 7:30am today. No wind, overcast skies, small waves (minimal surge) with some bigger sets in between, and hardly any salad at all.

My dad hits the water first and within a few seconds lands an average BSP... then foul-hooks a small leopard shark... looks like it's gonna be a decent am

Steve then shows up and tells me that the YFC action has been good if you cast pretty far out... and so I do... and in a minute or so... BENDOoooo!

I actually catch my first jacksmelt and my dad another BSP:

Then my dad gets in on the action with his FIRST ever YFC! woo hoo!!

He later lands another YFC! 2 in one day!

We then see Jim join us and we all make our way down the beach slowly...
Towards the end... I really go BENDO, and after a few nice runs... land my PB YFC 16"... what a beauty~~~ beats my 14 1/2" from last week!

We start to make our way down the beach... and pick off a few more bsp/YFC here and there...

Notice the style... you could only wish to imitate his form

I tell Steve they're bitin good on RED crack, so he promptly puts one on, and casts out... then goes BENDO on the drop! Probably 2 seconds after it hits the water... hahaha:

definitely a chunky YFC for Steve..

Yup!! I could care less if I skunked today... but watching my dad land a few nice ones was all I could ask for  He's getting older than I ever remember him looking growing up... so just spending some time with him on the sand is really great...

What a nice way to spend the day with dad and friends . congrats on your dad's first YFC and time spent on

Lunch doesn't look bad either.

Reel Inn Fresh Fish Market ...did you fish along malibu or north zuma?

I just starting out at surf-fishing, and I skunked on my last two trips. Any tips? What kind of RIG and SOFTBAIT are you using? Anything advice would help. Thank you thank you.

Nice report dk...nothing like fishing with the old man! I take my son out but he hasn't found the love yet...and he's got time, only 12.

Finishing at the Reel Inn is always a good way to end the day too.
