Actually it's on a padded box that's on the floor and it's a fiberglass replica I made of 25 inch trophy bass caught in Mexico. It's one of 5 bass a guy caught in one day and each one weighed over 10 pounds! This bass was part of a hanging "stringer mount". The fisherman also wanted the sores the bass had to be included in the replica. Sorry for showing off my work, but I haven't had any good catches to show recently...

Not knowing how you create such lifelike mounts, do you need the fish to make a casting or can you work with photographs? Also...how do you get the coloring on the mount...air brush or hand colored? It looks like the real deal Bass in the photo and the ding marks make it even more realistic.

No-always release the fish- please, but before you do, take measurements and a few good photos. Most good replica taxidermist have many molds or access to molds of all sizes and weights of fish. Yes.. the mounts are hand and airbrushed.
Here are all the bass mounts delivered to the fisherman that caught them:

im VERY impressed man. i have a few trophies i would mind having done. 12.5# calico and some good largies.

i have always wanted a mount that was a 360 degree mount resting on something. for my calico i wanted some boiler rock looking stuff with the bass being able to be sitting on top. i know id be reaching for the moon, but how rad would it be to walk around a mount 360 degrees!!!

fishmounter- Amazing replicas. What measurements and camera angle pictures should I take if I catch and release fish that I want a replica mount of?

fishmounter
09-24-2011, 09:18 PM
Good question. Take several shots at a couple different angles to try and avoid the reflection of the sun on the side of the fish. If it's a bass or trout, get a measurement of length from the tip of the lower jaw to the tip of the tail. For the girth measurement, put a flexible measuring tape or string around the fattest part of the fish. If possible, try to measure and photograph the fish on a wet towel and get it back into the water quickly. Then contact me or a good taxidermist that specializes in fish replicas.

I wanna do this to my first bass I've ever caught. So badly now that I saw this. But I didn't take measurements or weigh it. But I think I can recreate the pic with one of your old molds or Finnished bass you may have laying around. How much sir? I been fishing fresh water for 4 weeks now. And three weeks ago I caught this at legg lake.
