This was one of the last mounts I did for a friend. This fish was 18 inches long and 3 lbs., and was caught in the Sierras from Blue Sky Lake. The lake is hard to get to but has some really big Goldens in it. The color is very close to the live fish, but it looks dark in this pic.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm not doing any mounts right now, but my price was $18.00 an inch, with a 15 inch minimum. Expect to pay about $12.00 and up for quality replica work. The Golden Trout would be about $325.00. I know guys that charge up to $28.00 an inch!

Totally worth it for that kind of detail and quality.

Thanks for sharing the fish and where it was caught. That lake isn't that hard to get to.

Gorgeous fish!! Sky Blue and Miter Basin is an awesome area!

Viejo lol if it isnt that hard make a day trip out of it...hahahaha

The lake is not as hard as others in that area. Hope youre not going over Old Army Pass w/o crampons this year if anyone intends to fish it.

Heres a Golden out of Crabtree Lakes. The marks on the rod by the head of the fish measure at 16"

Nice! Your fish has more yellow on it than mine. And more more spots too. Looks like a rather large reel for Sierra trout...

LOL finally someone said something. The reel is a Shimano Sonora 2500 with 4# oversized for any trout fishing really. I dont take my Saros backpacking for fear of breaking an expensive reel, broke the reel in the picture a year later on the back side of Piute Pass.

Caught 1 other Golden out of Crabtree that was about an inch larger but not nearly the colors.

Your fish looks great! I love the orange! Had a Golden very similiar in size and color to yours out of Darwin Lakes area 6 years ago.

I like the hybrid sunfish under the goldie!

You're very good at mimicking the natural colors.. May I ask what paints you use for the pearlescent scales?

I always wanted to get into taxidermy when I was little, ever since I saw this one guy paint a real awesome steelhead with these rub-on paints. It looked amazing!

Great looking mounts! I'll wait to break the most recent light-tackle record Golden before I get a mount. Brandon Parker better watch out your 7.5lbs golden wont last long! They'll have to take it down at Jacks and put my bad boy up. Got 4 lakes in mind that can produce bigger and hitting one of them in a little over a week (Crabtree and Sky Blue are two of them)!!!

BTW do you have experience with skin mounts for fish?

You are correct this year with the extraordinary snow. Been there in other (normal) years with pack stock on a drop camp. This year...not so much. There are a number of lakes up there with fish like these and for most...will not be fished because of the skills required to get there. Are you eating all the big ones you catch up there?

Everything I catch in the backcountry is all C&R, even the tiny brooks. Not gonna lie though if I get a world class Golden youre damn right Im hiking out with it!

Brooks and bows are kinda w/e, although did get into some big bows this year at Olive Lake.

FTR - Could not believe the amount of snow still left in late July below 11k!! Silver Divide was COVERED. Made for good JMT Pina Coladas!

Jeff, I am speechless as to how beautifull those goldens are. How many hours does it take to do and 18" fish?

I am going to have you mount my 30 lb striper, even if I have to finance it over 10 years.

Here is another one. A "little" 15 incher. Turned out pretty good. Again this pic was taken before the mount was glossed so I would not get reflection glare from the camera's flash.
