It's her first time out and she had a blast! She's only 12 but I think I've got her hooked for life! she wanted to go back everyday because she has no summer school! We started the day not knowing where to go or where to start and as i launched out of the Marina I seen some boils! I knew i had no top water lures or jerk baits or rip baits so I used a mackerel pattern Kroc and tossed it pass the school and as soon as it dropped i was on! I immediately handed the rod to my Cousin and she got massacred! It was just a schoolie but it felt like a whale to her on ultralight gear. I set her up with a Sahara 1000 on a gl2 6'6 with some quality Tatsu. She eventually brought it in and was stoked! and wanted another one but as she was fighting the fish some guys on powerboats decided it was nice to just roar past us and screw things up. That's alright we got a whole lake to explore! So off we went. I went to the buoy line and fished it and was pulled over by a warden on the way for checkup. After we passed inspection we started to fish close to a cove and we did really well! We then set anchor to where the buoy line was once at and fished it so hard and got nothing. An hour later the bite just got so damn hot that we had double hookup and as small as she was she never tangled or had trouble casting. If anything she got pro fishing in her blood haha. She handled the Lugworms i gave her like a pro and wasn't afraid to cut off the mandibles. We fished both sardines and lugworms but had more success with the lugworms. The only fish we caught on lure was at the beginning with a Kroc. The whole 4 hours we were out there was on fire! and we couldnt take it anymore so we head in and i took my happy little cousin to Popeyes and we had a good meal. All in all i had a great day and I will start to fish KPN topwater once i get it and will definitely see if there is any results walking the dam.

So here's some Pic

Awesome, way to handle that lake and put your kid cousin on fish!
So is this a on the water the water report from today?
Either you found the boils or your lugworm pattern held up.
Nice job, Dave

Nice catch! That's a busy 4 hours.

First time fishing and it's wide open! I'm having trouble figuring out if she's hooked for life or if you're in deep trouble when you take her back and have to work for them.

I felt like we were not going to catch anything because we didn't have sardines and some of the people fishing near us said that we won't get anything because we didn't have the right bait. We got lucky. Next time we will go get fresh sardine from the pier and she asked me just today if we can go but unfortunatly I work weekeneds. And btw its on the water report signal fades and comes. SDDave thankyou for pointing me in the right direction :). I might go monday of next week to see how it goes. Hope to see some of you there

We were fishing bottom and as the hours passed bites happened 30 ft beneath the boats and they didn't want to play with lure anymore
