How long has it been sitting without being started?

about 4 yrs, but it has never had gas or oil put in it, it has just been covered up protected from the weather

i put gas in the gen today to start, did not start, i think it has been sitting to long, i am going to change the fuel line, filter and spark plug on saturday, if it still will not start i will open the carb to check and clean, i am sure it is a minor problem, the thing is brand new, just has been sitting for a long time, once i get the problem resolved i am sure who ever buys will get a great deal at the new lower price, they still sell for 700 and up, thank you for the intrust

replaced all hose's and filter also cleaned out gas cup and checked for any obstructions, new plug
still will not start, only thing left to is remove and clean carb, not a major deal, i do not have time to do this, getting ready for 7 day, if any body wants to buy the way it is i will drop price to 200.00 dollars if not i will fix when i get back
