Transducers

I am having a hard time trying to understand towards which direction on the transducer the signal is "sent out". If say the transducer was in the position as the image below, in which direction would it trasmit.

stright down, unless it has forward or side search, this transducer is a basic unit, remember to mount it level with the world and not the hull or it will shoot of to starboard or port....have fun

If it is located on the back of your boat and level to the bottom then on the screen of your finder the first thing you see when the picture shows is directly below your boat in other words when your screen is moving right to left the first thing you see on the right is directly under the back of your boat straight down inder the transducer.
