It's been a while since I last posted since I haven't had much time to fish, but I thought you might be interested to know that Strawberry Creek in Idyllwild still has a few small trout. I wasn't prepared to do trout fishing, much less creek fishing, but decided to take a chance since I had a few minutes to kill.

Bottom line, 3 small trouts from 4 inches to 8 inches in about 20 minutes. I was with 5 others, all non-fishermen. They just hiked with me from the state park to River Drive north of Fir St just to wet their feet for a few minutes so I was at their mercy when it came to the time spent there. All were caught on an red and yellow trout magnet. I was so excited to catch anything there in that short of a time that I forgot to take photos of my catches. All for the best since trout are such fragile fish.

I only fished for 1/2 a block, but did not meet any other fishermen. There were a few walkers enjoying the forest setting. They were as surprised as I was that there were still fish there.

Tight lines,

I will also be surprised that there will be many fish left after your wonderful and very complete report. The directions were perfect and very precise.

We will be up there with our scout troop and will try to get them down there before the few fish that are there are all gone.

I suggest using soft cheeses such as Velveeta or brie or even Monterey Jack and mild cheddar on size 10 to 14 hooks without weights or floating bait with small weights. I usually look for deeper holes just below white water or along undercut banks and rocks. Don't fish light colored bottoms. If one hole doesn't pan out, move upstream to the next one. This is great for ADD people like me with short attention spans.

Good luck!

Lures are funner for people with ADD I would imagine?
But if I enjoy lures more, does that mean I have ADD? I can usually be found frantically switching lures and being OCD about my tacklebox orientation.
Here was yesterday on a lure =)
I should have brought bigger lures for the larger ones. Doh!

Yes, lures are funner for people with ADD. As for you, I'm afraid I'm not qualified to say whether you have ADD or not. Talk to your the rapist or counselor.

I have no interest in your tackle box orientation. Tackle box orientation is not a disease.

As for your comment on bigger lures, my wife has always reassured me that size does not matter. It all depends on performance.

 You better believe it. I'm surprise that Strawberry Creek still have trouts bitting the lines at this time of the year. I go up there time and time again during late spring and summer, and never seem to get anything that good. Winter time is a whole different monster.
