The multi-species bite at the lake has nothing short of spectacular this year. Guys are still catching trout and its late July. The catfish bite has been good to great the past few weeks and the bass fishing has just been insane.

John Ballinger of Ridgecrest whacked these two Rainbow Trout while fishing a nightcrawler in the Santiago Flats. Both fish where in the 3lb class. Nice fish John.

James Anna of Tarbuco poses here with a hearty 6.6lb Channel Catfish while fishing Mackeral in the kids lagoon. Irvine Lake stocks the kid lagoon each week just for the kiddies.

George Szabo of Wolf Pack Lues and GS Trout lands this beautiful 7.6 Largemouth Bass while fishing a GS Trout. George released his fish after the quick photo op. For those of you that remeber the GS Trout it is a a dynamite bait and George plans on re-releasing this bait shortly.

This is just the Friday report guys. Come on out to the Vine and get in on this multi species bite.

Jimmy,
Irvine Lake is really something special this year, no doubt due to the amount of water.
The quality of multi-species fishing at our 715-acre waters can only be matched in California by a couple of the "Giant Lakes" like Shasta [29,000 acres], and Oroville [13,000 acres]. California's largest lake [Tahoe] at a massive 122,000 acres has only fair-at-best fishing. Of course there's also Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Utah at 42,000 acres, which just saw the catch of a new IGFA World-Record kokanee salmon at an impressive........ 7 pounds.
Actually, Irvine's catfish bite is far better than all of those monster lakes.

Very good- Took the shot of the trout anglers, as they came up to the tackleshop...there were other trout caught, couple from Bryan one of his topped off at 4+lbs...glad i was able to help James on his catfish slay- The catfish bite been getting stronger...seeing some of the bigger units coming out while on patrol~! SEEK submerged structure/trees, etc...some deep, but mostly shallow...

Thanks Jimmy! I fished all those derbies last season, even in between, and never caught more than four trout. Had to come out for whiskers to catch a limit of trout! (never did catch any catfish, just can't seem to make those things bite.)
