Haven't been able to hit the surf as much lately, I decided hit Doherty Beach on Sunday morning. Had to much to drink on Saturday night, I knew if I lay down on the bed I would never be able to get up and go fishing so I drank a lot of water to sober up and played game to stay up and drive down the beach around 5 am. Solo as always.
The tide was really low when I arrived, I knew high tide is not until 10 something. Doesn't matter. I feel lucky to be able to be out there to wet my line. Water clarity was pretty good. Some salads. No bait fish spotted. Fished both the beach and the jetty.
Nothing worth telling a story about :)
Caught: 1 leopard shark (my new species on the LC), 4 short halibuts (all released because I can't keep them anyway lol).
Lures: LC FM110 Metallic Sardine (2 short halis), LC FM110 Gold Shiner (0), LC Pointer 100 Metallic Blue (0) 3" Big Hammers in green (1 short hali) & blue color (1 shark), Bass Pro XPS crankbaits (1 short hali)
Lures lost: LC FM110 Metallic Sardine (I felt bumped , cuz this was a present from Wingnut, the lure which I caught my first fish from the surf, a legal halibut). 3 Big Hammers. 1 Bass Pro XPX metallic lures. Total 5 lost lures. My new record in a morning. Never lost so many lures in one session. Also damaged the LC Pointer. It got stuck in a rock and after I patiently applied constant pressure to the line and got it off, the ring built on the lure which to attach the tail hook was broken and I can't see anyway fix it. But I can always use it with only one trebble on the belly :).
All short halibuts ranging from 18-21 inches. All in all, a good session.

Can you spot this short hali in the sand. I thought of spooking it or speared it when I saw it right in front of me but then I was in a good mood and left it alone
