went for a week long fishing adventure, got to silverwood around 11 am went and set up the camp ground at spot 11 and walked down to the point got the first fish a hour or so later then another anoter hour or so then another then the bite slowly shut down. the two bigger catfish were caught on inflated nightcrawlers my fish was caught on anchovies i was going for the striper the entire time. pme wemt around 7 pounds guessing and the others i think around 4 to 5 let me know what you think. night came then the bite shut off i through everthing. lures swimbaits baits and got nothing but baby stripers on nightcrawlers through back the ones that swallowed the hook. left at around 8 am we slept by the lake and it was a long night so we left early.

july 14 got to big bear around 10 hooked up with many carp with masa mixed with a special mixture and they dove right into the weeds to break us off i caught one and let it go. at windy point no trout to be found unless you were further out. at the dam we caught a few smaller trout i caught them on lip ripperz and small crank baits.

july 15 ended up at the dam to start caught two by 12 then moved to stanfield point for carp for nothing then went back to the south side of the dam and man was a rewarded catching around 6 trout most released and one that was around 13 pounds holy sh#$ man i have never seen one that big outta big bear i got him on 2 pound test on a small crank bait. couldnt believe it i think it was around 13 pounds no official scale..... let me know what you think about it compared to the pic of around a one pound trout it waS 27 inches. gf got one on garlic pb with a long leader and thats about it lots of followers at the dam surprised i only hooked up with a few from all the ones i saw chasing the lures.

Where did you fish at silverwood?

from the camp sites there is a bike trail that goes down to a few different spots that you can walk down to the lake. it is a little bit of a walk from the camp sites but it wasnt to bad.

lol Finally someone gave it to those bastard carp you see swimming around all day at BBL. You gotta shoot me that recipe.
I was just telling somebody how they catch TOADS off the bbl dam on a regular basis. Boy was I right!
Wonder if I'll be able to make it happen some day.

Good work up there bro! You always have the hot stick wherever you travel.

Excellent size trout! Man, that's something to sink your teeth into. I'm surprised that the size of that trout can be caught from shoreline. Must be the approaching feeding and mating season. They're gearing up with the feeding activities.

Mating/spawning season over up there, this is a stocker from one of the tournaments from May or June most likely, those recent stocker big dudes will hug the shoreline quite a bit up at BBL.

Cogratulations on the hog rainbow!

Holy Molly! They stock something that large up at the Wood? They have got to bring those sizes down to the local valley waters! I would say we all will grab 2x4's and baseball bats to maim each other just to get to those chubbies.

Not normally at the Wood, this fish was caught at BBL I believe not Silverwood, 2 tournaments early season at BBL and they stock huge ones but most of the time the fish aren't caught till a couple weeks after the tournaments, they should toss them in a week or more prior to the tournaments IMO.

Good luck in getting into DFG. With the budget all scrambled to hell and back, it's a miracle that you can get into any of the governmental agency at all for the next 5 years or so. Suggestion: be an active volunteer to reap the benefit DFG provide for their member, as you set your foot in the door. While gain experience, you're also gaining insight to the opened position, and testing dates set forth for their internal staff. Take the test, be on the hiring list (1 year for new applicant and you have to retake again for qualification). It's easier to get into the agency when you're already part of the team, even as a lowly volunteer or a paid intern, rather than a newcomer. I should know. I'm an environmental scientist myself.

Great fish u got up here. I was on the North side on the point east of the boom line. I was trying to cast a jig in front of one of those big ones & hooked a pole i wasnt using & cast it right over my head into the lake. So I had to go swimming at least the water was warm LOL. This was about 9 am I was there from 6-930 when the wind started. Lil cold with wet shorts in the wind. Didnt catch a single fish farmed a stocker on a slip bobber & a crawler about 6 feet down..... Really glad to see ya guys have such a great trip fishing I may go out for some cats tonight.
