Yesterday, I made a pretty cool rod rack that holds up to 12 FULLY RIGGED rods & reels. The whole rack installs in 2 minutes top. The idea is that when I am on our Yellowstone/Eastern Idaho trip next month, I can simply roll up to a spot and fish w/o having to assemble anything. Run and gun baby!

The rack consists of two parts, a front and a rear section, that suspend across the truck’s ceiling on the opposing clothes hanger hooks.

The rack is made mostly from maple and a little bit of alder & oak. I found an old oak molding that had a perfect concave shape to it. I modified it to hold the rod handle above the reel seat.

This way, the rod cannot slip off the rack.

This was a fun build. (Made more fun knowing how I’d be using it!) I have about 5 hours into it.
Drilling the notches on the rear assembly.

Here you can see how the front part assembly was made.

It takes 2 wing bolts to put it together & a minute to install.

The front notches have felt lining.

This is not my finest craftmanship, but a solid effective rack nonetheless.

Wow that's pretty nice. I wish I knew how to "make stuff". I can just about anything with a computer, but sad to say my worse class in school was wood shop.
