Hi all, as i mentioned in my previous post, I recently purchased a 12ft aluminum boat with a 15hp outboard. now both the boat and the motor are not registered, and i have no paperwork for neither, i received the boat as a gift, and bought the motor off someone for $300, with out any receipt, i paid cash, he only gave me the owners manual and some spare parts. How do i register it in CA? do i register the boat? the motor? how does it work, with details please. and also, how much will it cost roughly?

Thank for all your help
happy Fishing,

You need to go to the DMV (Dept. of Motor Vehicles). If you can, get a letter from the previous owner of the boat, stating that it was gifted to you. No registration on the motor.

What if I can not get a letter from him? I kind of don't have any of his information and can't contact him anymore?

thanks for your help
