Got there around 2030 And left about 2430

After we set up a couple came down and stayed with us untill about 2230, they didn't catch any thing.
My dad went back to the truck to grab some thing when his reel started to scream, so I grabbed it and set the hook. I thought it was a ray at first because it just felt like dead weight on the end, but as I brought it in closer I felt a few head shakes. It was a Nice 3 pounder

My dad about to let her go.

About an hour later as the couple next too us were about to pack up, my reel starts screaming. I grab it, and idiot me turns off the clicker and tried to set the hook like that while it was in free spool. Some how this fish is still on. I turn off the free spool and right as I go to start reeling him in, my line goes slack. The one that got away. I estimated this fish to be about 3,000 pounds, and about 50 feet long.
Both fish were caught on squid.

Thats my Story and I'm sticking by it.
Plus, I'm 6'2 and 230 lb, I make every thing look small lol.

It was also probably 2 lb max. I'm just going by what my dad said. I suck at guessing fish sizes

Had fun reading your post...Don't worry about being a little 'extra enthusiastic' about your fish...(though your 3000 pound, 50 footer may have been more accurate) You simply join a long and fine tradition of rounding off the size of your catch a couple pounds up...
Cheers and keep that sense of humor going in your posts...

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
IT may have been 50lb bat ray at the most. I have a 5 ounce pyrimid sinker on it and she was dragging it with her like it was nothing.

It's amazing how fish seem to constantly grow exponentially with the age of the fish story...I have heard fish caught and eaten that started off as 2 or 3 pounders years ago to that are 20lb behemoths that almost towed my poor friend across the ocean!least you know that big one is still out there
