Kayaking the upper lake?

Has anyone kayaked fish the upper lake in Castaic? I'm interested but would like to get some insight. I know the upper lake especially could get pretty rough swells out there but there is nothing my Ocean Kayak cannot handle. :???:

I have done it several times in my Ocean Kayak Scupper Pro, and yes it can get rough, but it handled fine. You can actually get right into the fish, without making the noises boats do to spook the fish down when they are boiling.
The only drawback is sometimes the lifeguards/ boat police want you to stay within close range to shore. To avoid being ran over , I rigged up an orange flag to the back of my kayak.

Thanks definitely I would get a flag, did you paddle all the way down to the buoy line?

I haven't kayaked Castaic but I've seen kayakers out at the buoy line. They were fishing bait and wait. They got a few.
