I fished Fairmount Park with my grandson yesterday evening and we actually caught a few good sized Bluegill. Although we only caught 4 big ones, these fish were a good 8 inches long. Really surprised me. We got lots of the little 4 & 5 inch guys. We fly lined small meal worms on 2 lb test line, casting at the swirls and boils. Sorry no pics. Gotta take my fly rod over there.

O nice! Where they even that far out or along the edges with the rest of the small ones? It looks like you finally got to put some fishing in :)

Nice size gills for Fairmount, but I really think you were trying to beat Dannys Walleye record. Just kidding with ya :Big Grin:

Good going there Fishmonter!

Hey Old Pudd....it's better that he went after bluegill anyways. They fight alot better than walleye.

Ive never seen a Walleye at Fairmont yet, but you never know what can be in there . Sturgeion were in the san Bernardino lake a couple months ago though.

You know, now that you mention it, I was seeing decent bluegill at laguna lake. A few were palm-sized, around the same size that you mentioned.

Not very normal for this lake, which is absolutely crammed full of 'gills.

It's great that you were to finally get in some fishing, and with your grandson! And you got some fish, too.
I'm waiting for mine to get another year or two older, so I can take him fishing with me.
