Hit Irvine lake with my daughter today from 10 to 1:45. As such, no hardcore bassing but did manage 3: 4lb-8oz, 2lb-11oz and a 2lb-0oz. Lost 2 other good ones halfway to the boat. Tried for bluegill for her but blanked--where are those pests when you need them, lol?! Nice time with mandatory ice cream afterwards.

How deep are the 'gills now? I was trying too shallow, I think. Like only 3-5 feet.

The gills are shallow and they are were they can feed...trees,brush,plants etc.

Oops, sorry forgot that part. I fished a creature, worms and cranks but only got them on worms and cranks. I think the creature probably would've gotten a few but I didn't fish it seriously enough. It was hard to analyze the conditions with my daughter along but I already knew that going in. BTW, the fish were in all depths--3 feet, 10 and 15-18. I guess you can fish whatever depth you like the best, lol.

Fongster,
Thanks for the info. You can see my bass report from June 30 where I used creature baits also and caught 4. The photo above is a beauty, the fish that is. Keep up the nice work. I trying to figure when I can go to the vine again. I am kind of curious since the fish report mentioned bass hitting boils of bait balls. I have seen that saltwater fishing for tuna in mexico but not yet at the vine.
