We went out Thur morning & it was an absolutely beautiful day. Fishing was fair - not as good as it has been the last 3 weeks - but how can you complain if you get to be on the lake fishing all day? Water was still very clear although there is still a green hue from the algae. There were areas where you could see the bottom fairly well in 30'+. The underwater brush & trees along the shorelines and the bottom are almost completely covered with that green, slimy algae that sticks to everything. Water looks like it's down a little bit from last week, but not much. Didn't see nearly as many fish up shallow. Threw a Punker & buzz bait 1st thing in the morning, but no takers. In fact, didn't see any boils or shad in the areas we went to. Didn't see as many fry this week, but when you did see them they were like mini anchovy bait balls - 1,000's of 'em. The spawn must have been pretty good.

Black grape & MM plastic in the morning but it died off. Then they started hitting watermelon red flake. No Senko bite at all. Water was mostly in the mid 70s but we did come across one area where it was 79. Oddest thing was the wind. Glass smooth when we went out - not unusual. We headed back to the ramp about 3:30 and the water was smoother than when we went out. That's the calmest I've ever seen it at DVL. During the day, we were hoping for a little breeze to help cool it off a little. Last Thurs it was Victory at Sea trying to get to the dock. Fish were deeper and less action than usual.

Still a good day.
