Alot to be thankful for on this trip. First of all, only 25 anglers onboard. Bad news is the Captain is telling us very rough water on the way over and expect lots of wind, dirty water and difficult fishing conditions in the morning. Uh oh. Here's a cool sunset pix.

Next morning the engines shut down and I hop out of the bunk. It's windy, ocean is pretty calm and fish aren't biting. We stop three different spots and same thing. I think about five calicos and whitefish are caught. Captain decides to try the otherside in hopes of finding warmer water and less wind. Voila. First stop we pick up a yellow and a few bass. Water is warmer and only a breeze. Second stop.

I hook up while flylining a sardine and am fortunate enough to get the fish on the boat. We get two more yellows and a few nice bass. Two more stops with mixed results and then we hit a flury of yellows. We only ended up with 13 on the boat, but at least 25 were lost. Lot's of snapped lines and poorly tied hooks. Here's a pix showing the size of what we landed.

Next stop we found a wide open bass bite. The fishcount reported about 160, but we must have caught over 400. Most of us were letting the bass go. One guy was throwing plastic and he caught 40, all released. The guys using plastic were catching 1-2lbers. Those of us flylining were catching 2-6lbers.

We had nice size fin bait, but they were not very lively. Jackpot yellow went around 25 lbs. Captain moved around alot to try and find fish. Crew and cook were excellent. Pretty equal mix of skilled fishermen and newbies, but everyone was cool. One kid around 11 had the time of his life catching perch and a few bass. So what started out as well at least I'm fishing turned into a great day and I'm thankful. Best of luck to all of you on your next trip.

Excellant report and good job on your catch. I was supposed to go on that boat last week but i had to work. One of my favorite over night boats.
