I took the boat out to Perris for some morning action with my friend. We got on the water at 6:25. Water was 76* and calm for the most part. We fished hard but I only had one bite until 9:45. I pitched out my bait and brought it back slowly then I felt the tap tap tap.....I set the hook and the fish just took off!! I was using 10lbs mono and he was pulling drag alot and hard. I fought it for a few minutes then saw his head...OMG..it looked like a 6lbs...sweet!!! I then saw him surface and I just couldn't believe my eyes....well landed it and it weighed 8lbs 12oz....almost 9lbs!!!! woo hoo!!

Hard to tell from the pictures but that could be a spotted bass! That indeed would make it a trophy, but nice hog either way!

Not a Spotty but would have been great if it was...still like you said she was a nice HOG!!!

Awesome James! Man that's a nice bass! Now you better think about getting a replica mount made. Do you know how many bass I made replicas of that were smaller than that bass? A lot of 6, 7, and 8 pounders. And to the guys that caught those, they were their personal best! So congrats on that nice trophy bass bro! See what happens when you go often and learn the lake...

All I can say is, DANG! Great report on the time and water temp. Keep up the great jobs in reports and catches! We all need to give a good report method like this so other can see the pattern when fishes are biting. Based on the water ripples, looks like you had some light wind out there.

The wind was cooperating perfectly.....winds were light at 4mph.
