I figured I need yet another rod laying on the deck of my boat. Thought I'd go with a crankbait setup. Thinking another Curado 200E but what line are you guys favoring for everyday crank baits (4-10 ft. depth) ? What test and mono-fouro? Thanks.

I use 10, 12 lb test for shallow water cranks in freshwater.

Crankbait only reel, go 200
crankbait and jerkbait reel, go 100

10 or 12lb Ande clear is great.

Hey TJ, Never heard of Ande clear. Is it mono, flouro or a hybrid?

Ande is monofiliment, clear refers to non color, such as blue or green ect.

14 # suffix siegue, 17# for poppers or walk the dog lures
but get a stiff Im8 rod
like the Okuma guide select
or any high modulus graphite rod
those cast better with less birdnest
and are more accurate

when you cast put your thumb on the line inmediately
and control the pressure, stopping the line with the lure hits the water
take it to the park to practice and get distance
and educate your thumb.

Thanks Eddie. I have 5 baitcasters with all kinds of setups. I prefere braid for topwaters looking for stripers. I was looking at standard small crankbaits in particular and not a do-it-all setup. Happily I'm no longer plagued with birdsnests. Well, hardly ever. Got that out of my system in the first 6 months.
