Anyone use a line lighter than 2 lb test for spinning rods? Was looking around for a decent line and my friend found this. Not sure about the copper/red color, but he uses it and catches fish...

I know.. you're right. I probably don't need to go down this small, but I am throwing tiny spoons and jigs and I can cast them farther with a smaller line. Plus the fish are small. Well small for fish in general, but hopefully big for Bluegill.

you've got my interest. I'm going to have to try now. I normally throw 2lb line, so this would be fun! Imagine, pulling in a 3-5 lb bass, trout, or anything for that matter! What a rush it would be. Hmm.. this sounds like a challenge for me and my brother. Gonna have to make a multiple day trip with him somewhere and see who can land the biggest fish with it. Who sells it?

best get a rod that bends to the butt if you think you've got a chance at catching it. Done some trouting with it, and it tinks reallllllllly easily.

Having been using 2-lb. line for many years, I can say that the smaller diameter lines can be a nightmare. I shopped around, finding the smallest diameter 2-lb. line I could find, and can say that I now have more knots, snarls and tangles than I have ever had with bigger lines. This is especially true if the line is very limp. With that being said, I don't plan on switching back to a larger diameter 2-lb. in the near future. I really couldn't see myself using 1-lb. line. All of it I have seen, other than leader material, has been on the foreign market, showing metric measurements on the spool.

Turners has Berkley line #2 and #4 on sale for $2. I just spooled all my reels with it.

If I COULD afford it, I would have used the new Berkley Uni-Filament which runs about $20 for 150 yards. You have to tie a different knots though... :) Something new to learn. The cool thing about it- NO MEMORY! http://www.berkley-fishing.com/products/line/uni-filament

Haven't seen 1# line is the states in a while. Fenwick used to make 1# test.

Outta curiosity, what is the line diameter for that 1# line?

Man I fish 2 and 4 and I fish flueger but I don't think the drags are smooth enough but seems like fun for gills and crappie any suggestions on smooth drag reels?

Is that Unifiliment actually available yet?
I'll put it to the test. Hehe

PS I tried 2lb line and you's all smokin' cracks in the sidewalk.
Can't deal with that stuff.

Maybe with a jig but I don't even own a 2lb 8 foot jig rod. (hmmm...)

shimanos have a really smooth drag for a lower price reel. you could take your drags apart and grease them with a thin grease like superlube or drag grease like cals or shimano. This line is the **** if your using mini jigs or worms. http://www.fishusa.com/DAM-Tectan-Premium-Plus-Monofilament_p.html

I think you can get it on line. Try the Berkley website. They won Innovation of the Year award with it and it is the newest thing out there.

I would try it; however, summer school pay sucks :( Gotta save up for gas if I want to get there.
