hit up the bay sat. for some pretty decent spottie fishing considering where we were.
small but mighty! these fish fight for their size. I took a friend who had never fished the salt, so for his first time out 13 spotties aint bad. I got about 20- 25 fish
(mixed bag) from 9:00 pm-3:20 am all on 3" bay smelt big hammers, normally redrum is good.
There were people fishing off the bank everywhere in front of the BIG OCEANSIDE sign!
one guy got a few butts on ghost shrimp & he said he also had a leopard shark on earlier that night.
bay smelt was the ticket, usually any color big hammer works at night. The darker the better!
sorry no pics, nothing over 2 lbs. no butts this time either...
Anyone on here been fishing or plan to fish oceanside bay (from shore) or surf fish this summer? I know its not the best place around but its as far as I want to drive for now. I'm getting burnt out on the freshwater scene & looking for a change of scenery.
