hey was wondering if anybody who float tubes in the bays use livebait? If so how do you catch them in the bay and how do you take them around with you. Im sure if you could get ahold of some smelt in the bay live you get some nice halis?

live bait float net, although $20 for that is a ripoff... you can find it cheaper elsewhere

Sabiki rig off a dock...
Use the live bait tank from Wally World (hard plastic) they have much less drag when finning around, easier to use.. Ill try and get a link.... :D
Here ya go.. Frabill, Flow Troll.....
$7 or $9 at Wally World.....

Exactly.. 'If' you can tote the sabiki around, anytime you see them you can add a few to the tank.. They are all over.........
Just a pain to carry that extra rig around.. May be worth getting a short set up strictly for sabiki on the tube..
I do as well or better with plastics, so have only done the live bait thing a few times, then gave it up....

chum the docks with small bread crumbs and use a sibiki rig. I created my "bait tank" out of a mesh laundry bag and I zip tied a pool noodle arond he top to get it to float. A few small weights in the botom of the net and you are in business. A real easy rig to use. I've even used the bait tank as a catch bag to hold trout I caught.
Good Luck

Chum with bread crumbs around the docks and use a sibiki. I made a bait tank from a mesh laundry bag I zip tied a pool noodle to the top to float it and keep it's shape. It works well.
Good luck

DO NOT CHUM NPH.. New city regs and they are strict on it...
You can not even throw your bait in the water unless it is still on a Hook..!!!!!!!
