Got to the spot around 0500. Cold, intermittent drizzle, waves a little rough, salad in the early morning.


Jason starts the morning off early with this short Hali

Water was getting rougher so we made a move for calmer waters. I started to feel the pressure and was praying to Poseidon, "PLEASE don't let me get skunked today, PLEASE!!" :LOL:


A little while later, Poseidon answered me with a chunky YFC. :Big Grin:

It was a good move because we finally found a spot with consistent action. We were both farming fish before I hooked into a drag burner. I felt the headshake and knew it was a good-sized Hali.

We were both happy to find that we were able to accomplish our mission fairly early in the day. :High Five:

Shortly after I hooked into another nice Hali. Got it close to shore and rested it on a grassy rock waiting for a wave to help me bring it in. Wave came, I went to pull it in but only came up with a jumble of grass on my lure - no Hali. :Angry: Sigh... the one that got away. :Rolls Eyes:


But then, I get another drag burner. It was pretty heavy, and it slammed my LC about 10 feet in front of me. Wasn't too sure what I had until I saw it in this wave. Can you see it?

Continued fishing the same spot but the tide turned around and the waves were getting bigger. I was wading a little deeper than Jason when a big swell came along. I braced myself and braved it, then turned around to see Jason PISSED cauz he just got rolled by the same wave. :Idiot:


Unfortunately, due to this wave his cell phone was K.I.A. :mad:

Although Jason was soaked and cold, he still managed to hook this nice Sandie.

In Jason's attempt to fish the treacherous terrain, he lost an LC. :Sad:

So we moved again and I came up with another YFC, the last fish of the day.

After this fish, we made a couple more moves but came up empty. Tide was coming in, salad was getting thicker, and Jason was shivering in his waders. :LOL: Decided to call it a day around 1030.

Jason, if you guys have Verizon, they have a waterproof phone ( water resistent?!) that cost about $300. It's tough looking also.
They don't have it on display, you have to ask for it. That's my next phone for sure!

I am still up in the air on whose side to stand by in your ongoing competition whether it be on the inflatable, tube, or new found love of the surf!

Very nice. Tess has definitely has proven herself.. Presure is on Jason but I anticipate that your going to make a comback with avengance. Enemies better beware.. Too bad about your phone. I know I wrecked a few phones like that. I wish they made a rugged Angler phone. All the features of an Andriod but it also has G-shock, is water proof, and it floats.. Also if it had Marine VHF Radio capability and they made an adapter for mini usb to Lowrance, Furuno, and Hummingbird transducers with a sonar and marine GPS applications now that would be impressive. Anyways well done. Congradulations to Tess..

Robert, I ended up getting a new phone for about 70 bucks and it comes with a $50 mail in rebate. :Big Grin: We did see a waterproof phone, but it was little too pricey for my needs. Would prefer to put that money into some new fishing gear. :Big Smile: We gotta hit it up with you again soon.

Ended up getting a new phone and a waterproof case. I kinda feel the need to carry my phone just in case of emergencies. How else am I going to give you up to the minute PB reports at 5am? :LOL:

That was my first time getting rolled and it was not fun. :Neutral: Especially with the overcast and drizzly morning we were having there was no chance of drying up. Cold, Cold, Cold :Cold Fishing: The sandie made me forget all about it for a little while, but after that it was back to shivering in my boots. :Surprised:

That kind of phone would be awesome. An all-in-one for the outdoor angler. The closest thing I've seen was a waterproof flip phone by motorola. A little pricey though for a flip phone with no other features other than being waterproof.

If I had things my way id have a t.v. show "fishing chef" and that halibut would be one of my dishes.
As a angler who loves to cook... I'm drooling over that halibut. I've only had rainbow trout like that...and I can only imagine how good it was. Flaky, tasty delicious.
