Got to the lake late but had lines in the water by 8:15am. My buddy Corey and I pitch worms, cranks, plastics and spinners to no love from the lmb. So I tied on a lure that I learned about from "theasianguy". The YoZuri. I have never had panfish hit like that before! What an awesome day! Corey and I caught over 20 redears, 4 bluegills, 2 nice crappie and 2 sm lmb. Action all day long. We started at Berisconi and worked our way all the way around to launch 11 & 12. We released all but a few fish. We kept the crappie (largest at 1.2lbs on the digi) and a few of the larger gills ( largest at 10") for fish tacos. We couldn't have done it without the info you guys share. It was a beautiful day weather wise and we were off the lake by 4pm. Hopefully I can upload these pics. All fish were caught on the Yo Zuri killfish in about 5 - 8 ft of water. The Zuris we had ran between 1.5 to 3ft .

Which YoZuri were you using?

Yes those panfish do slam those crankbaits! I move mine real slow or twitch them. I like using the Yo-Zuri Snap Beans and Snap Shad. Looks like that aile killifish does the trick too, might have to pick one up.

Is there a particular color that seems to work best? Thanks for the info on the snap beans.

Steve - We caught the lmb at the East end across from the island

Bassgrabber - Thx

Kelster - I was using the aile killfish. It was the only style BPS had.

Sirbluegill - I will definitely be picking up a few more Yo-Zuris. I think I will start with the Snap Beans and Snap shad.

Also I forgot to mention, I saw a lot of fry being chased by shad at both the East end and just East of 11&12. We also saw a a small lmb (around 8") being chased by his much larger brother. They both came out of the water, Twice! Might be time to breakout the Castaic lures

Good to see you guys hammer the lake! 1.2lbs? Wow..that is some nice fish tacos there. My family will be camping there soon. We will go crazy with fish taco when we hit that lake all day long during the camping trip..muahahahaha...

The tacos were delicious! Thanks for the Yo-Zuri tip.

Kelster - The lure # is F645-HOK. You can go to YO Zuri website and look it up to see what it looks like. I tried to copy and paste it but the thread won't let me do it.

Try this: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_37002_100005001_100000000_100005000?cm_ven =bazaarvoice&cm_cat=RLP&cm_pla=37002&cm_ite=productname_link

By the way, rather than sticking with the deadly treble hook, switch out with the circle hook from Eagle Claw or my favorite, Komatsu size 4 octopus (black). Works like a freaking charm with any of the crank and live baits.

Since we are talking about Perris Bluegill and lures, Here's my favorites. I may have posted this pic before. When the fish are shallow, the tiny ultralight Dardevle Skeeter spoons are awesome. (Ask Sir Bluegill). With a slow steady retrieve, they just slam it!

Those Dardevle Skeeters is how I started out using artificials for bluegill,(thanks Jeff) which led up to mini crankbaits. There fun to use and fun to collect. Also its fun to break away from the usual cricket, mealworm, and redworms.
