my bro and i got there around 7:30pm. tried to catch sum gills but it wuz kinda late. the sun went down so we put the gill rods away and pulled out the kitty poles. 8:00pm we were set up. threw the poles in and waited. a little after we threw them in i got a big hit on my pole but he spit it out before i got to it. so we pulled um out and rebaited. a few minutes later my bro got a hit on his pole. so i grabbed it, set the hook, gave it to him and all i heard wus a screaming drag. put up about a 10-15 min fight. he barely fit in the net. had a nice lip hook with the circle hook. removed it and weighed um. he weighed 21lbs. didnt have a measuring tape so dont know how long he wuz. we released him shortly after. swam away fine. then around 1:00am i got a hit on my pole. set the hook and fought um a few minutes. got him in the net, removed the circle hook and weighed him. he wuz only a 3.5lber. he wuz also released. left shortly after. it wuz a nice night at the pudd. :Envious:

well they were both released. they were both raised there. they have that yellowish brown color. i usually only take the nice silver ones. the ones stocked by fish and game, the ones from SARL or corona lake, or the ones from the vine.

Got there right 7. Seem like most came well before 7 and already set up. Place was packed. I had a good fish on about an hour later, but some (3) guys squeeze in, crossed my line, fish lost. I wasn't really bother by it. However he kept casting sideways on top of my line and blame me when I reel in. Couldn't take it anymore, had to leave. Still nice lil night session.

Oh yeah thats line that i would use. catfish even small ones can give you a big fight and break you off if you arent careful.

mjc89
07-05-2011, 12:48 AM

Wow with that heavy of line one would think your fishing the mississippi for blues and flatheads. Geez bro you really dont want those kitties to have a chance to get away do you HAHAHA.

mjc89
07-05-2011, 01:00 AM
haha ya kinda. the only reason i did the braid wuz cuz i got it for really cheap. 300 or 330 yard of 30# for like 10 buxx. i think its spiderwire. but it works good for wen u wana haul the kittys out of the trees

I dont blame you, especially with a unexpected 21lber like that. makes spoolin up with some braid worth it. lol

07-05-2011, 01:08 AM
ya. and i also wanted it to fish the colorado river. big cats in there too. my dad hooked up sumthing big during the day that took his line upstream and still manages to brake the 20#

my uncle went there like 10 years ago for stiper, his freinds told him to use nothing under 30 he said man if you cant land a fish on 20lb test your not a real fisherman. while there he hooked into a 40-50 lb striper fouhgt it for like 45mins and the fish striped him of all of his line. Because it went strait down and stripped like 2or3 football feilds worth of line.
